My typical
client would be a homeowner. They will probably have spent a great deal of
time and money in their home and are now eager for their garden to reflect
this.
I provide
mainly homeowners with a definitive plan and specifications to enable them
to have a garden that will suit their needs, tastes, style and gardening
ability. I also provide detailed planting plans for the soil type and
aspect of the garden.
My clients
expect me to give them a design that formulates their own ideas for the
use of their garden and also to add my knowledge and flair to make their
garden outstanding. I supply a customised, personal service that takes the
clients’ wishes and desires for their garden to fruition.
The service
I provide will consist of a free initial consultation with the
clients in their own home, discussing their hopes and dreams for their
garden; their use of various parts of the garden; their likes and
dislikes; what time they like to spend working, entertaining or relaxing
in the garden. I give general advice and observations at this point and if
that is all they want I will follow it up with a brief report.
Should they
wish to proceed with a design I will undertake a full survey of the
garden, measuring the area and taking soil samples for testing. I make
notes on sun and wind directions and their effect and note the condition
of the soil. Consideration will be taken of the effect of neighbouring
properties and the impact of their planting and buildings and any views or
focal points which could be 'borrowed'.
I then
produce a design within seven working days and arrange an appointment to
meet the clients to discuss this. One set of amendments will be included
in the cost thereafter they may be amended at an additional cost based on
an hourly rate.
Once the
design is agreed a planting plan will be offered. This will specify and
quantify the exact species of plant and position of planting.
This set of
drawings will be of a quality that would enable a contractor or DIY
enthusiast to produce the detailed design on site.
Site
management rates may be negotiated if required.
The initial
consultation is FREE. The cost of survey and design will vary
according to the size of the garden.
